Bull Skit Productions is a comedy film troupe from northeast Ohio. The members consist of friends who grew up together in a small town, East Palestine, Ohio. Bull Skit was started in 2005 by Brandon Hull and Steve Boyle, two teenagers with a shared knack for filming and editing. Soon, Craig Beight, Pepe Parish and, Steve’s older brothers, Lee and Jack Boyle joined the ranks. The troupe started producing skits which frequently included their friends, Billy James and Derek Baker, as well as themselves.
Brandon, Steve and Lee are heavily involved in starring in and editing the films, as well as brainstorming joke ideas. Pepe and Craig are oftentimes theatrically based, focusing on acting, character development and an overall stylizing of sketches. Jack is involved more in story boarding, filming and conceptualizing than anything else, although all members have overlapped in each department.
Promotion of Bull Skit is primarily internet-based with an official website, bullskit.com, various youtube, facebook and myspace sites, etc. The troupe has uploaded over 400 videos. On very rare occasions, they have performed live at The Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana, Ohio and at The Oakland Stage in Youngstown, Ohio. Bull Skit films have appeared at The Black Squirrel Film Festival on Kent State University’s campus and at The Kent Stage in downtown Kent, Ohio. They have received promotion from independent organizations online, such as MRNspace and Penn-Ohio Underground, done commercials for Youngstown, Ohio comedian, Murad Shorrab, and been interviewed by The Salem News, a local newspaper in Salem, Ohio.
The comedy style of Bull Skit Productions is an off-the-wall, quirky humor which specializes in sitcom aesthetics, horror spoofs, fake commercials and cheesy music videos. Of the most notable skits are “Shakes Dat,” “Stomach Pain,” “Locked Out,” “Spin The Bottle,” “Sex Education,” “Super Hero Adventures” and the “Frat Attack” series.
